Trauma
Trauma is a term used to describe the challenging emotional consequences that living through a distressing event can have for an individual. Traumatic events can be difficult to define because the same event may be more traumatic for some people than for others. There are three main types of trauma: Acute, Chronic, or Complex Acute trauma results from a single incident. Chronic trauma is repeated and prolonged such as domestic violence or abuse. Complex trauma is exposure to varied and multiple traumatic events, often of an invasive, interpersonal nature.
OCD
OCD is characterized by having recurring, unwanted thoughts, ideas or images (obsessions) and having repetitive behaviours to get rid of the thoughts (compulsions). Thoughts are persistent and intrusive and behaviours are rigid. People with OCD are unable to ignore, control or get rid of them.
Bereavement
Coping with loss of someone or something that you love or need can be difficult. Grief is a natural response to loss. Everyone response to loss is different and there is no right or wrong way to grieve. The time it takes to heal from grief is different for everyone. There is no set amount of time for grief. For some it may take days or weeks and for others it may take months. It is important to be compassionate with self and allow the healing process to unfold.
Stress Management
Stress is body’s reactions to life’s challenges. Everyone’s threshold to manage stress effectively is different. When the body’s alarm response to stressful situation does not come down, it begins to affect your physical health and emotional wellness. Learning effectively to manage stress brings back your life’s equilibrium and help you become aware of early signs of stress on your body and mind.
Relationship Issues
All relationships has its ups and downs. Usually people encounter issues in their relationship, after the “honeymoon period” ends. There are disappointments, hurt feelings and conflicting opinions in all relationships. The ability to get through conflicts despite the differences and being able to be grateful for each other’s strengths is the hallmark of a successful relationship.
Eating Disorders
Eating disorders are characterized by severe and persistent disturbance in eating behaviors and associated distressing thoughts and emotions. They can be very serious conditions affecting physical, psychological and social function. Types of eating disorders include anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, avoidant restrictive food intake disorder, other specified feeding and eating disorder, pica and rumination disorder. In severe cases, eating disorders can cause serious health consequences and may even result in death if left untreated.
Depression
Depression is more than feeling sad or unhappy. If you experience the following symptoms nearly every day, for at least 2 weeks, and affects your school, work and/or social relationships, you may be living with depression: 1. feeling sad 2. feeling hopeless, worthless, and pessimistic 3. crying a lot 4. feeling irritable or angry 5. loss of interest in interests you once enjoyed 6. decreased energy or fatigue 7. difficulty concentrating, remembering, or making decisions 8. moving or talking more slowly 9. difficulty sleeping, early morning awakening, or oversleeping.
Inter-generational Conflicts
Inter-generational issues occur due to differences between different generations as a result of cultural and social discrepancies and prejudice. There can be issues stemming from communication styles, differences in values and beliefs and rigidity in one’s own opinions. As inter-generational issues can occur in all families, it can be even more complicated in immigrant communities.

Sexual orientation is about who you’re attracted to and who you feel drawn to romantically, emotionally, and sexually. Sexual orientation can be heterosexual, gay or lesbian, bisexual, pansexual, questioning or curious and asexual Gender identity isn’t about who you’re attracted to, but about who you ARE — male, female, genderqueer, etc. Gender identity is the personal sense of one’s own gender.

Therapy can help you to get to know yourself better. It will provide clarity on issues that are important to you and will enable you to develop ways to deal with your challenges. It will help you connect the dots between childhood attachment and current patterns.
If you are lacking in clarity of thought, feeling unheard or you are unable to function, complete basic life tasks, such as resolving issues or dealing with people around, you should consider consulting a therapist. If your issues are impacting your sleep and affecting interpersonal relationships, then accessing therapy could be useful. Often, it could just be that you are not able to move ahead with your life, and are feeling stuck or need guidance in coping skills.
